In short

Which test equipment must be calibrated under ISO 9001?

Test and measuring equipment you use to demonstrate the conformity of your products and services must be calibrated or verified where measurement traceability is required. Clause 7.1.5 of ISO 9001:2015 then requires calibration at specified intervals or before use, identification of its status and an assessment of previous results if equipment turns out to be unfit. You set the interval yourself, for example from the manufacturer’s recommendation, usage and past results. QuKI keeps instruments, calibrations and out-of-tolerance cases with due dates and reminders.

Where test equipment management gets stuck today

  • Calibration due dates sit in an Excel list nobody opens regularly
  • A gauge is out of tolerance and nobody clarifies which measurements are affected
  • Before the audit people search for when each device was last calibrated
  • Maintenance on plant is done but not documented traceably

How you manage test equipment and maintenance in QuKI

Test equipment management and maintenance management are two modules you book separately.

Instruments

All test and measuring equipment in one place, with its calibrations and due dates.

Every calibration is recorded. Before the next one is due, QuKI reminds you.

Out-of-tolerance board

When equipment is out of tolerance it becomes a case. A dedicated board shows all open cases so no deviation is left lying.

Maintenance management

Maintenance plans for plant and equipment, with schedule monitoring, responsibilities and history. It is evidenced that you maintain your infrastructure as clause 7.1.3 requires.

What changes for you

  • No calibration due date expires unnoticed
  • Out-of-tolerance cases do not lie around but are resolved as cases
  • In the audit you show status and history of every instrument

Frequently asked questions

How often must test equipment be calibrated?

The standard prescribes no interval, only specified intervals. A common starting point is the manufacturer’s recommendation or one year. You then adjust the interval to usage, environment and past results, shorter with frequent deviations, longer with stable values.

What to do when equipment is out of tolerance?

The equipment is taken out of use and you assess whether previous measurement results are affected, as clause 7.1.5 requires. Depending on the outcome, re-inspections or informing your customers follow. In QuKI the out-of-tolerance case sits on a dedicated board until it is resolved.

Is QuKI maintenance software or a CAQ system?

No. Maintenance management in QuKI keeps maintenance plans, dates, responsibilities and history as evidence for quality management. Comprehensive maintenance with spare parts and machine data needs dedicated maintenance software, measurement data capture and statistical process control need a CAQ system.
