In short

Which nonconformity is most frequent under IATF 16949?

According to IATF statistics for the twelve months to September 2026, the most frequent major nonconformity concerns clause 10.2.3 problem solving, with about 12 percent of all majors. It requires a documented process with root cause analysis, effectiveness verification and the methods the customer prescribes, in practice often the 8D report. QuKI runs complaints up to the 8D report and tracks every action to effectiveness.

Where things get stuck before the next IATF audit

  • Customer complaints arrive by email with deadlines, and the 8D report is written in Word
  • Process audits must cover all processes and shifts, and the overview is missing
  • Gauge calibration dates sit in a list nobody maintains
  • Suppliers are assessed, but escalations are not documented

QuKI

How QuKI supports automotive suppliers

QuKI is not a CAQ system with measurement data capture, SPC or first article inspection. It runs the QM duties around IATF 16949 and VDA 6.3.

Complaint to 8D report

From capture through root cause analysis to the 8D report, with actions through to the effectiveness check, as clause 10.2.3 requires.

With AI

Drag the customer’s email, a PDF or a photo into the window. The AI reads what it contains and pre-fills the case. You review and save.

Internal audits with rules per standard

IATF 16949 distinguishes system audit (9.2.2.2), process audit (9.2.2.3) and product audit (9.2.2.4). In the audit programme you plan your internal and external audits in the annual view, with a set of rules for each standard, such as VDA 6.3 with process elements P1 to P7.

With AI

The AI reads your process documents and proposes audit questions per standard, each with a confidence value. You accept, change or discard every suggestion.

Gauges with calibration dates

All test and measuring equipment with calibrations, reminders and a board for out-of-tolerance cases. You still calculate measurement system analysis in your statistics tool.

Suppliers with escalation levels

Assess and classify suppliers and link them to their audits. When performance falls short, defined escalation levels apply.

Competencies and training

Competency matrix, repeat intervals and comprehension tests evidence qualification under clause 7.2.

With AI

Comprehension questions with answer options are generated from your documents and training videos as a suggestion.

What changes for you

  • The 8D report is done when the complaint is closed
  • The audit programme shows which process was audited when
  • No calibration date expires unnoticed
  • The evidence for the certification audit is in order

Frequently asked questions

How do IATF 16949 and ISO 9001 relate?

IATF 16949 of 2016 is a supplement to ISO 9001:2015 and is applied together with it. The requirements of ISO 9001 are therefore part of every IATF certification, which is not a separate ISO 9001 certificate though.

Is a new edition of IATF 16949 coming?

Yes. IATF started the revision in October 2024. According to its communiqué of July 2026 the second edition is provisionally planned for mid-2027. Focus areas include simplification, software quality, multi-tier supply chains and product launches.

How is a VDA 6.3 process audit rated?

The 2023 edition scores each question with 10, 8, 6, 4 or 0 points. This leads to a rating of A, B or C, plus downgrading rules. In QuKI you set up VDA 6.3 as its own set of rules with process elements P1 to P7.

Is QuKI a CAQ system?

No. Measurement data, SPC, FMEA and first article inspection belong in a CAQ system. QuKI runs complaints, audits, actions, gauges, suppliers, training and documents.
